Common uses
Treating Parkinson disease. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Kemadrin is an anticholinergic agent. It works by relaxing smooth muscle, which stops muscle spasms.
Before using
Some medical conditions may interact with Kemadrin . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
• if you have glaucoma, mental or mood disorders, muscle weakness (eg, myasthenia gravis), ulcerative colitis, (eg, an enlarged prostate), or urination problems
• if you have a blockage of the stomach, esophagus, or urinary tract; kidney or liver problems; high blood pressure; heart or blood vessel disease; an irregular heartbeat; or uncontrolled movements of the hands, mouth, or tongue
Directions
Always take Kemadrin exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Swallow the tablets with a drink of water.
• The tablet may be cut or broken in half along the line marked on one side of the tablet.
• If you miss a dose of Kemadrin , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Kemadrin .
Cautions
Do not take a double dose of this medication. Use alcohol carefully. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking procyclidine. This medicine may cause different side effects, such as blurred vision, dizziness or confusion, which may reduce your competency to drive or operate machinery safely. Do not drive or operate machinery till you know how this medicine affects you and you are sure it won't influence your performance.
Possible side effects
Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Because a side effect is stated here, it does not mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect.
• Dry mouth
• Blurred vision
• Constipation
• Difficulty in passing urine (urinary retention)
• Nausea and vomiting
• Inflammation of the gums (gingivitis)
• Nervousness
• Rash
• Dizziness
• Confusion
• Impaired memory or concentration
• Disorientation
• Agitation
• Anxiety
• False perceptions of things that are not really there (hallucinations)

If you take too much
Any medication taken in excess can have serious corollaries. If overdose is distrusted, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of a procyclidine overdose involve large pupils; warm, dry skin; flushed face; fever; dry mouth; fast or irregular heartbeat; anxiety; hallucinations; confusion; agitation; hyperactivity; loss of consciousness; and seizures.
Additional information
Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
Drug interactions
Some medicines may interact with Kemadrin . Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
• Phenothiazines (eg, thioridazine) because the effectiveness may be decreased by Kemadrin
